Prewash
Always wash and dry your fabric before sewing (if it’s washable!). Make sure to follow the laundering instructions.
Prewashing prevents shrinking or colour bleeding later, it tests the durability of the fabric, removes chemicals that may cause irritation and makes the fabric easier to handle.
